Today on Symbole Art, we present Dropouts, a collection of 1295 avatars (PFP – profile images) representing hand-drawn characters with truly original attributes. Modern, poetic and imbued with references to popular culture, Dropouts stand out for their singular aesthetic and their roots in digital and crypto art. This NFT collection is also one of the first to register Bitcoin Ordinals.

A pioneering Bitcoin art project

Dropouts were born in 2020 under the pencil ofArt Bat, an artist renowned for his contributions to the Fake Rare Pepe collection on the Ethereum blockchain. Long in the planning stages, the Dropouts benefited from several years of maturation, enabling their creator to refine their visual identity.

The arrival of the Ordinals protocol in January 2023 enabled the artist to register the collection permanently on Bitcoin. The first 379 images (800×800 in webp format) are registered in the sub100K (the first 100,000 registrations) and the complete collection lies between registrations #74587 and #137958.

160 Dropouts were offered to owners of Fake Rare Pepe created by Art Bat. The others were sold to the public. Some were hidden in the wild by the artist.

A collection imbued with poetry and sensitivity

With around 150 attributes, each Dropout is unique and has its own particularities that set them apart from one another. This is one of the strengths of this collection: everyone can find their own avatar, their Dropout alter-ego.

A wide variety of original avatars

The essence of the collection is based on a strong artistic and emotional dimension. Diversity, poetry and sensitivity perfectly describe this collection. The very feminine avatars express a moving fragility. A subtle melancholy emanates from their eyes. These characters seem to emerge from a world where everyone is struggling to find their place.

A sad look

The Dropouts collection on Ordinals generated 9.5 bitcoins in sales volume. Even so, it’s a collection that’s under the radar and, in our view, vastly undervalued at present. It’s one of the few PFP collections where art has such a strong presence, and one that was listed very early on Bitcoin. Today, there are 580 Dropouts holders, and only 117 pieces of the collection are on sale, i.e. less than 10% of the total supply. The lowest price is 0.002 BTC. A great opportunity to enter the world of art on Bitcoin.
